Coach Seiji Joins Forces with Ripxx!

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Coach Seiji (www.coachseiji.com) and Ripxx (www.ripxx.com) are proud to announce the start of a  perfect partnership! Coach Seiji will be testing and evaluating the Ripxx Personal Measurement Device with his athletes during both training and competition.

“I see this relationship as beneficial to all parties; the GPS enabled performance monitor will allow recording and reviewing of data that I have been wanting for a long time but the proper device wasn’t available until now. This data will ultimately help my athletes optimize their performance and hopefully our testing and opinions will aid Ripxx in continuing to improve an already impressive device,” says Coach Seiji.

Look for Coach Seiji’s Ripxx evaluations and opinions on his blogs (Coach Seiji Says) and popular social media venues like Facebook (Seiji Ishii) and Twitter (@coachseiji).

Fly Racing and Coach Seiji Team Up!

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Coach Seiji is happy to announce a new relationship with Fly Racing of Boise, Idaho. Fly Racing will be the exclusive riding apparel provider to Coach Seiji and coachseiji.com, allowing both personal training and online coaching clients to view and sample their outstanding line.

Fly Racing has come a long way in a short time by constantly improving and never settling for “good enough.”  Their riding and racing apparel continues to evolve in functionality, durability and style. Coach Seiji has seen this through Fly’s sponsorships of Jason Anderson, Andrew Short and Ryan Clark and is proud to also be representing the strong brand.

“I am excited to forge a strong relationship with Fly Racing and their parent company Western Power Sports. My dealings with Rodney Reynolds and Max Steffens have been nothing short of stellar and their company’s values and support of both racers and the sport are exemplary. I hope to be able to aid them as much as they will aid me and my clients. I hold the company, their owner and their race support staff in the highest regard,” says Coach Seiji.

Coach Seiji Race Report: Ponca City and Loretta’s 2010

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Coach Seiji clients Jason Anderson, Rusty Potter and Jamison Duclos all made the annual pilgrimage to Ponca City, OK to kickoff the two week NMA/AMA Amateur Motocross Championship run. Both Ponca City and Hurricane Mills, TN provided worthy challenges from the tracks, heat, humidity and of course the fastest amateur motocross racers in the country. Championships would be hard won and just surviving the two weeks of constant battles would be an amazing accomplishment.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green Pro class pilot Jason Anderson quite simply dominated the Ponca City Grand National Championship. Consistent starts inside the top 5 led to consistent moto wins; Jason would go on to win 3 out of the possible 4 Pro class championships. Only a mechanical issue in the 250 Pro Mod class kept him from sweeping all the Pro class titles.

Jason would continue on the warpath at Loretta Lynn’s. He would go 1-1 entering the final moto of the 250A/Pro Sport class and was the odds-on favorite to capture the title. Luck would turn on Jason though; the same bike that failed at Ponca City would again fail while he was in a position to win the title. Heartbreak led to determination as Jason went into the 450A third moto with yet again perfect 1-1 moto scores. In a cruel twist of fate, Jason was entrapped in a pileup soon after the start of the final 450A moto. Another 200 yards down the track, Jason was again a victim of a pileup, this time putting him and his machine on the ground. Jason was in last place and another 200 yards down the track he had a spectacular crash that sent him and his bike end over and over a tall roller. Jason remounted his machine yet again in dead last place, with a huge gap to the next rider! What happened next was extraordinary. Jason would soldier on with incredible speed , determination and heart to pass 32 A class riders to finish 5th. This gave him just enough points to claim the championship!

Jason would go on to win the AMA Horizon Award which is given to the amateur rider with the most outstanding season and brightest future. Congratulations Jason!

Rock River Powersports rider Rusty Potter had his first chance to test himself in the Pro classes at Ponca City this year and he would not disappoint. Rusty would ride with grit and his never-say-die attitude to card very consistent finishes in the stacked Pro classes. Rusty would fight for 8-8 finishes in 250 Pro Mod for an 8th overall and 13-13 finishes for 14th overall in 250 Pro Stock. Great performances for a first real Pro class national! Rusty would carry the confidence gained at Ponca City to Tennessee; he fought through some brutal starts and hectic opening laps to scratch and crawl his way to 16-13-20 moto scores for 15th overall in the 250A/Pro Sport class. The same perseverance held strong in the 250A class as Rusty carded a very consistent 17-17-16 (including a brutal bout of vomiting in his helmet due to a clod of dirt entering his throat!) score sheet earning him 14th overall. Coach Seiji is proud of Rusty and his accomplishments in his first forays into the top amateur classes!

Rock River Powersports mini pilot Jamison Duclos has consistently improved his riding and fitness throughout the 2010 amateur season. Each national brought huge leaps in performance and the same was expected at Ponca City and Loretta Lynn’s. Jamison was well on his way to continue the progression as Ponca City practices went extremely well and he was riding with confidence and speed. Unfortunately racing can be cruel; Jamison came up short on a option double in his first moto and suffered a severe concussion ending not only his Ponca City run but also his Loretta Lynn’s efforts. Jamison should recover fully and Coach Seiji and the Duclos family will ensure that his stellar rise in 2010 will continue into 2011. Get well soon Jamison!

Coach Seiji would like to congratulate all riders that made the extreme efforts and sacrifices to even make it to Ponca City and/or Loretta Lynn’s. The riders, families and sponsors have every reason to be proud!

Coach Seiji Pro Class Riders Successful at Ponca City!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

The 2010 edition of the NMA Ponca City GNC proved wildly successful for Coach Seiji clients Jason Anderson and Rusty Potter and both head on to Loretta’s with momentum and confidence!

#312 Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson dominated the pro classes by winning 3 out of the possible 4 titles. Jason earned national titles in the 250 Pro Stock class, the 450 Pro Stock class and the 450 Pro Mod class. A mechanical issue kept him from battling for the title in the 250 Pro Mod class but Jason and team are ecstatic with the overall outcome of Jason’s last trip to Ponca City.

#108 Rock River Powersports rider Rusty Potter earned an 8th overall in the 250 Pro Mod class in what is really his first national in the A/Pro classes. Rusty also earned a 14th overall in the 250 Pro Stock class. Rusty hopes to carry his progress into his first trip to Loretta’s in the top classes.

Coach Seiji would like to personally congratulate Jason and Rusty for their triumphs at Ponca City and looks forward to Loretta’s!

Successful Weekend For Coach Seiji Clients Hewitt, Yenerich and Anderson!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

This past weekend proved to be successful for both Rockstar Energy Suzuki pro #126 Hunter Hewitt, #370 Rock River Yamaha rookie pro Drew Yenerich and Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green amateur #312 Jason Anderson.

Hewitt rode consistently in both motos at the Lakewood Colorado Pro National, carding a 15/14 moto scores for a 14th place overall. He is now sitting in 19th overall position in the points standings. Yenerich went 18/26 for 22nd overall, a great improvement over his past efforts and a good sign of things to come.  Anderson made the trip to the Indiana Ponca City qualifier where he dominated by posting perfect moto scores, 8 wins out of 8 motos.

Hewitt, Yenerich and Anderson are back at it this week and Coach Seiji is both pleased and motivated to continue the progression.

Coach Seiji Welcomes #312 Jason Anderson To The Team!

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Coach Seiji is excited to have amateur standout Jason Anderson join the team as a client for both coachseiji.com online and personal training services. Jason has enjoyed a stellar amateur career and is currently recovering from arm surgery. Coach Seiji looks forward to aiding in his comeback and providing all the help necessary to continue his success through the rest of his amateur career and on to the professional ranks.

Jason and Coach Seiji have started his return to racing this week and both are looking forward to both training and racing:

“I have known Jason for years,” says Coach Seiji, “he was always a respectful kid and of course his speed was always there. He had awesome support from his parents and I am happy to join this already great support team. I have no doubts about Jason’s ability to ride and expect nothing less than a long and successful career. Kudos to both him and his family for getting this far and I am sure their great chemistry will continue far into the future.”

Look for updates starting this weekend on Jason’s return to racing and training!

#126 Hunter Hewitt Ends SX Season On A High Note!

Monday, May 10th, 2010

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Rider and Coach Seiji personal training client Hunter Hewitt continued his steady improvement at the East vs. West Lites Class Shootout this past weekend in Las Vegas. Building upon his previous career best 8th place finish earned the previous week in Salt Lake City, Hunter carried this momentum into the final race of the 2010 Supercross Season.

This final round is unique for the Lites class as it is the only race of the season that pits the West Coast Lites riders with the East Coast Lites riders. The race participants must be in the top 20 in overall ranking on their regional divisions making this race field the fastest Lites field in the country.

Hunter got off to a great start in his West Coast only heat race and battled not only the fastest West Coast riders but also the sketchy track which was watered heavily. Hunter fought hard and took advantage of his start to emerge with a 6th place finish, his best heat race result of the season.

Hunter again shot off the main event starting line with a great start and battled the 20 fastest Lites class riders in the nation throughout the 15 lap main event. His efforts ended with a well deserved 12th place.

All those involved with Team #126 are proud of his efforts and achievements during this Supercross season and look forward to the Great Outdoors!

Hunter Hewitt Produces Another Career Best Finish!

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites rider Hunter Hewitt claimed yet another career best at the Salt Lake City Monster Energy Supercross race this past weekend. In what could only be described as epic conditions, Hunter overcame altitude, rain, snow, hail, frigid temperatures and a nasty crash to chalk up another great performance.

Hunter emerged from an incredibly good track in the only qualifying timed practice (which included hail!) with the 8th fastest time in the Lites class, the best he has ever done. This led to a great gate for his heat where he got a 3rd place start and held that for a few laps. Hunter went down hard in one of the treacherous whoop sections but got up unharmed to soldier on to an 8th place finish to secure his spot in the main.

Another great start from a so-so gate got him through the first turn in 3rd yet again but a red flag caused a restart. The restart was a carbon copy and Hunter rounded the first lap in third, giving the longtime Coach Seiji personal training client a taste of running up front in the main. Rain started to fall midway through the race, causing the already difficult track to rapidly deteriorate. Hunter’s steady and determined efforts in these utterly difficult conditions earned him a career best finish of 8th.

Hunter’s steadily improving performances gives all involved great hope for not only the East/West Shootout in Las Vegas but also the Outdoor National season!

#126 Hunter Hewitt Earns First Career Top 10!

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Long time Coach Seiji personal training client #126 Hunter Hewitt reached a career milestone at the 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Series round in Seattle. The Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites class pilot had a rough start on what could be considered the most physically demanding track of the season thus far. Hunter was involved in a first turn pileup and then crashing another four times in the 6 laps of his heat race. This forced a trip to the LCQ where Hunter made the mental turnaround and earned the holeshot and the win.

Getting to the main event through the LCQ put Hunter on a far outside gate. Hunter pulled an amazing start from one of the worst positions to come around the first lap in 7th place. After 15 hard laps on a rapidly deteriorating track and one crash, Hunter emerged with a career best 10th place.

Coach Seiji is super proud of Hunter and his accomplishment, especially considering all the injuries Hunter has had to overcome both physically and mentally. Here’s to the rest of the supercross season and the outdoors!

Please Pull for Jesse Masterpool #956.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

On Saturday at the Lake Whitney Spring National a fine young man and incredibly gifted rider was seriously injured in the final motos of the event. Jesse Masterpool #956 went down hard and took the brunt of his force on his head. His heart stopped and breathing ceased for minutes. He was revived on site to the horror of all the fans and his family and was air evacuated to Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth.

Jesse survived the flight but has been in a coma since arrival and cannot fully breathe on his own. He has fluid in his lungs and broken ribs. His brain activity has not elevated to a level required for recovery.

Please keep Jesse and his family in your thoughts as he fights to stay alive and return to this world and his family.

Tough but Good Ride for Hewitt; Yenerich Ready for East Coast!

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Both Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s #126 Hunter Hewitt and Rock River Powersports’ #370 Drew Yenerich said good bye to the west coast as they fulfilled personal goals at Anaheim 3.

Hewitt was on a tear all day; an 8th place start led to a 5th place finish in his heat race. Another top 5 start in the main led to great riding for the first 5 laps with Hewitt comfortably in 6th place. Josh Hansen was making his way through the field and as the track made its turn up the start straight, he inexplicably took Hewitt’s front wheel out putting #126 on the ground in the widest, most open part of the track. Hewitt rode as well as he could for the remainder of the race without use of his clutch as his lever was pointing straight down and unrepairable. Although disappointed at failing to make his top 10 results goal, Hewitt has confidence going into the break as he was definitely riding at top 10 pace.

Yenerich was on his last “warm up” round of riding the 450 class on his Rock River backed 250 machine. Yenerich struggled a bit on the most technical track of this west coast season to date but held on to qualify 40th for the night show! He rode to a 15th in his heat race and 12th in his LCQ as he battled the big bikes. Yenerich is satisfied with his two west coast warm up rounds and is headed to his true pro SX debut at Indy with the experience and confidence captured in his short stay in California.

Hewitt is slated to begin outdoor riding in Texas after his short break while Yenerich launches his pro career on the east coast. Stay tuned for more updates!

Hewitt Back On Track and Yenerich’s Excellent Adventure!

Monday, February 8th, 2010

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites rider Hunter Hewitt found his groove  and #370 Rock River Powersports Lites rider Drew Yenerich made his unofficial professional supercross debut at the 2010 edition of the San Diego Supercross.  Rain fell on and off all day resulting in a delayed and very shortened schedule. There would only be one 12 minute timed session to qualify everyone to the night program. Dirt Wurx once again did an incredible job of managing track conditions but it proved to be treacherous all night long claiming many riders throughout the event.

Hewitt and Yenerich both survived a very slippery track in qualifying to move on to the night show. Hewitt bounced back after a spectacular crash to post a qualifying time, while Yeneirch, who is riding Lites East Coast, was on his Rock River backed YZ250F in the Supercross Class just to get his feet wet in the pro supercross ranks.  Yenerich lost a gas cap, oddly resulting in swallowing fuel and vomiting,  but soldiered on to post a qualifying time.

Hewitt held 9th place throughout most of his heat race but got passed with two corners to go by #801 Jeff Alessi. Hewitt would miss by one and would be going to the LCQ. Yenerich failed to qualify on his Lites class ride in the Supercross Class heat race but rode well and accomplished his goal of gaining knowledge and experience in a professional supercross event.

Hewitt pulled a massive holeshot in the Lites LCQ and steadily pulled away for the win.

In the Lites main, Hewitt once again pulled an impressive start from the last gate choice and emerged in 6th place after the first turn melee. He remained in that position for a few laps until a fall relegated him to 9th. Hewitt would soldier on through 15 very difficult laps as the track continued to deteriorate and eventually finish 12th. Although short of his goal of achieving a top 10, he remains positive as his starts are now consistently putting him inside the top 10 in the first lap and 12th is a massive improvement over the last three very rough rounds.

Hunter Hewitt, Drew Yenerich and Coach Seiji look forward to a solid week of training and improved performance at Anaheim 3!

Holeshot! Hewitt Gets First Ever SX Holeshot in SFSX Heat Race!

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites rider Hunter Hewitt nailed his first professional holeshot in his heat race at the 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Series round in San Francisco. Hewitt continued to battle until to the end of the heat race, earning a career heat race best of 4th place.

Unfortunately the luck did not continue as his foot became entangled in a competitors bike off the start of the main. This, compounded by errors and mental issues resulted in a 17th place finish in the main.

Hunter and his trainer Coach Seiji are tackling the issues to put all the pieces together for a main event result. Both would like to improve on the 11th place main event finish Hunter earned at Anaheim 1. Onward!

Hunter Hewitt Achieves Personal Milestone at A1!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites class rider Hunter Hewitt achieved an incredible milestone at the 2010 edition of Anaheim I. Hunter spent almost all of 2009 dealing with a broken femur suffered after one round of last year’s SX East Coast season. An original surgery followed by rehabilitation was unfortunately negated due to the wrong hardware being installed in his femur. Hunter once again had to have surgery and persevered through rehabilitation again.

The dedication paid off at the 2010 edition of Anaheim I as Hunter cruised to the main event with an 8th place in his heat race followed by an 11th place in the main.

Coach Seiji is very proud of Hunter and looks forward to a season building from this remarkable result!

Rusty Potter and Jamison Duclos Improve Dramatically at the 2009 Mini O’s!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Coach Seiji personal training clients Rusty Potter and Jamison Duclos made massive improvements in their major national performances during the 2009 edition of the Mini O’s.

#108 Rusty Potter posted rode impressively in the B class and posted an 8th in 250 Mod SX, 11th in Schoolboy MX, and a 15th in 250 Stock MX. These were the best results ever for Rusty at this national, traditionally a weaker event for the Midland, TX based rider.

“Last year I only made one main and I was just a gate filler and back marker,” says Rusty. “This year I feel really good inside about my ability and never once did I feel tired at all.”

#23 Jamison Duclos was also able to post his best result ever in a major amateur national by finishing 5th in the 65 Mod SX main under horrible conditions, let alone for a 65cc machine.

“I haven’t felt tired in any moto or practice,” says Jamison. “I just have to figure a few things out.” Look for Jamison to continue improving as he continues training at his Jefferson, WI home.

Coach Seiji would like to congratulate both riders on their gains made this past week in Florida and looks forward to continued progress during the 2010 season.

Mixed Results for Coach Seiji clients at the 2009 Dodge National

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

The 7th annual Dodge Amateur Motocross National brought improved riding but mixed ultimate results for personal training client #108 Rusty Potter. Rusty went into his last third of his total motos in the three moto format sitting in the top 5 of the Collegeboy 250 Stock Intermediate and 250 Mod Intermediate classes. Unfortunately through no fault of his own Rusty went down in a pre first turn pileup that left him with a concussion which took him out of the rest of his motos. Rusty is now recovering and hopes to carry the momentum he had going up to that point into his training for the Mini Olympics later in the year.

Coachseiji.com online client #288 Tyson Derksen soldiered hard to earn a 4th overall in the 25+ Amateur class despite very limited training time due to job demands. Tyson hopes to push forward and continue smart training as his work demands decrease to climb to the next level in racing performance!

Jamison, Coach Seiji’s newest personal training/online client, posted a 5th place overall in the 65cc 7-11 class and a 16th and 18th overall in the 85cc Jr. and 85 Open classes. Jamison fought hard in these three moto format races, especially in the stacked 85cc classes. Congrats to Jamison and crew and a great event to build upon for the upcoming season!

#870 Rock River Yamaha rider Drew Yenerich made the trek north after his impressive Loretta’s performance to Walton, Ontario to ride his first ever pro event in the 9th round of the Monster Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals. Drew carded a 9 -13 for 12 overall in the super competitive MX2 class. Way to go Drew and good luck back here in the states at the rest of the outdoor pro nationals!

Coachseiji.com riders impressive at The Ranch!

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Coach Seiji personal training clients #70 Drew Yenerich and #95 Jesse Masterpool and online client #74 Daniel Corbin all impressed at the 2009 edition of the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Motocross National Championship:

#70 Drew Yenerich, Rock River Yamaha

250A/Pro Sport class, arguably the fastest class at Loretta’s: 10th – 7th and a heartbreaking DNF due to a piston failire for 19th overall. Drew’s motor failed with a lap and a half to go; Drew was headed for a top 5 overall. I guess that’s why they call it racing and not winning.

4 Stroke: Often riding up through the pack; 5th -5th -2nd for 4th overall. Stellar rides by Drew in this class. Always moving forward and charging until the end.

This is the best Drew has ever done at Loretta’s by far! Way to go Drew, I am proud of you!

#95 Jesse Masterpool, RockStar Suzuki

85cc (12-13) Stock: 2nd – DNF – 2nd for 12th overall. Jesse crashed hard and injured his forearm in the DNF moto and soldiered on for the rest of his Loretta’s week.

85 cc (12-13) Mod: 1st- 2nd – 23rd for 8th overall. What a strange last moto. Jesse went in tied for 1st with Matt Biseglia only to run into Matt in a hairpin turn. Their bikes became strangely welded together and couldn’t be separated for minutes thus shattering both rider’s title chances. Anything can happen in motocross.

Way to tough it out Jesse! Your future is nothing but Rock Star!

#74 Daniel Corbin, sponsored by mom and dad

250A: 10th – 11th – 12th for 10th overall on a used 2 stroke. Daniel has one bike that is both his practice bike and his race bike and it’s 99% stock. He and his shoestring budget battled in the fastest classes at Loretta’s and he did his sponsors proud against “factory” riders. He may not think so but this to me is a breakthrough ride for him. Seriously. this was the guy living in the tent by the river at Whitney. Low budget but big heart.

250A/Pro Sport: 19th – 9th – 32nd for 22nd overall. Crashes. What can you say? All part of the sport.

Keep it up Daniel, your time will come! Money can’t buy heart and you have a wealth of that so stay positive and continue on your journey!

Well another edition of Loretta’s is in the books and I am proud of all my clients and thier support teams. On to Florida and the Pro ranks. I wish them the best and hope they continue to dream big!
