Coach Seiji will be testing and evaluating the Ripxx Personal Measurement Device with his athletes during both training and competition.

“I see this relationship as beneficial to all parties; the GPS enabled performance monitor will allow recording and reviewing of data that I have been wanting for a long time but the proper device wasn’t available until now. This data will ultimately help my athletes optimize their performance and hopefully our testing and opinions will aid Ripxx in continuing to improve an already impressive device,” says Coach Seiji.

Look for Coach Seiji’s Ripxx evaluations and opinions on his blogs (Coach Seiji Says) and popular social media venues like Facebook (Seiji Ishii) and Twitter (@coachseiji).

Coach Seiji is happy to announce a new relationship with Fly Racing of Boise, Idaho. Fly Racing will be the exclusive riding apparel provider to Coach Seiji and coachseiji.com, allowing both personal training and online coaching clients to view and sample their outstanding line.

Fly Racing has come a long way in a short time by constantly improving and never settling for “good enough.” Their riding and racing apparel continues to evolve in functionality, durability and style. Coach Seiji has seen this through Fly’s sponsorships of Jason Anderson, Andrew Short and Ryan Clark and is proud to also be representing the strong brand.

“I am excited to forge a strong relationship with Fly Racing and their parent company Western Power Sports. My dealings with Rodney Reynolds and Max Steffens have been nothing short of stellar and their company’s values and support of both racers and the sport are exemplary. I hope to be able to aid them as much as they will aid me and my clients. I hold the company, their owner and their race support staff in the highest regard,” says Coach Seiji.

Coach Seiji clients Jason Anderson, Rusty Potter and Jamison Duclos all made the annual pilgrimage to Ponca City, OK to kickoff the two week NMA/AMA Amateur Motocross Championship run. Both Ponca City and Hurricane Mills, TN provided worthy challenges from the tracks, heat, humidity and of course the fastest amateur motocross racers in the country. Championships would be hard won and just surviving the two weeks of constant battles would be an amazing accomplishment.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green Pro class pilot Jason Anderson quite simply dominated the Ponca City Grand National Championship. Consistent starts inside the top 5 led to consistent moto wins; Jason would go on to win 3 out of the possible 4 Pro class championships. Only a mechanical issue in the 250 Pro Mod class kept him from sweeping all the Pro class titles.

Jason would continue on the warpath at Loretta Lynn’s. He would go 1-1 entering the final moto of the 250A/Pro Sport class and was the odds-on favorite to capture the title. Luck would turn on Jason though; the same bike that failed at Ponca City would again fail while he was in a position to win the title. Heartbreak led to determination as Jason went into the 450A third moto with yet again perfect 1-1 moto scores. In a cruel twist of fate, Jason was entrapped in a pileup soon after the start of the final 450A moto. Another 200 yards down the track, Jason was again a victim of a pileup, this time putting him and his machine on the ground. Jason was in last place and another 200 yards down the track he had a spectacular crash that sent him and his bike end over and over a tall roller. Jason remounted his machine yet again in dead last place, with a huge gap to the next rider! What happened next was extraordinary. Jason would soldier on with incredible speed , determination and heart to pass 32 A class riders to finish 5th. This gave him just enough points to claim the championship!

Jason would go on to win the AMA Horizon Award which is given to the amateur rider with the most outstanding season and brightest future. Congratulations Jason!

Rock River Powersports rider Rusty Potter had his first chance to test himself in the Pro classes at Ponca City this year and he would not disappoint. Rusty would ride with grit and his never-say-die attitude to card very consistent finishes in the stacked Pro classes. Rusty would fight for 8-8 finishes in 250 Pro Mod for an 8th overall and 13-13 finishes for 14th overall in 250 Pro Stock. Great performances for a first real Pro class national! Rusty would carry the confidence gained at Ponca City to Tennessee; he fought through some brutal starts and hectic opening laps to scratch and crawl his way to 16-13-20 moto scores for 15th overall in the 250A/Pro Sport class. The same perseverance held strong in the 250A class as Rusty carded a very consistent 17-17-16 (including a brutal bout of vomiting in his helmet due to a clod of dirt entering his throat!) score sheet earning him 14th overall. Coach Seiji is proud of Rusty and his accomplishments in his first forays into the top amateur classes!

Rock River Powersports mini pilot Jamison Duclos has consistently improved his riding and fitness throughout the 2010 amateur season. Each national brought huge leaps in performance and the same was expected at Ponca City and Loretta Lynn’s. Jamison was well on his way to continue the progression as Ponca City practices went extremely well and he was riding with confidence and speed. Unfortunately racing can be cruel; Jamison came up short on a option double in his first moto and suffered a severe concussion ending not only his Ponca City run but also his Loretta Lynn’s efforts. Jamison should recover fully and Coach Seiji and the Duclos family will ensure that his stellar rise in 2010 will continue into 2011. Get well soon Jamison!

Coach Seiji would like to congratulate all riders that made the extreme efforts and sacrifices to even make it to Ponca City and/or Loretta Lynn’s. The riders, families and sponsors have every reason to be proud!

The 2010 edition of the NMA Ponca City GNC proved wildly successful for Coach Seiji clients Jason Anderson and Rusty Potter and both head on to Loretta’s with momentum and confidence!

#312 Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson dominated the pro classes by winning 3 out of the possible 4 titles. Jason earned national titles in the 250 Pro Stock class, the 450 Pro Stock class and the 450 Pro Mod class. A mechanical issue kept him from battling for the title in the 250 Pro Mod class but Jason and team are ecstatic with the overall outcome of Jason’s last trip to Ponca City.

#108 Rock River Powersports rider Rusty Potter earned an 8th overall in the 250 Pro Mod class in what is really his first national in the A/Pro classes. Rusty also earned a 14th overall in the 250 Pro Stock class. Rusty hopes to carry his progress into his first trip to Loretta’s in the top classes.

Coach Seiji would like to personally congratulate Jason and Rusty for their triumphs at Ponca City and looks forward to Loretta’s!

This past weekend proved to be successful for both Rockstar Energy Suzuki pro #126 Hunter Hewitt, #370 Rock River Yamaha rookie pro Drew Yenerich and Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green amateur #312 Jason Anderson.

Hewitt rode consistently in both motos at the Lakewood Colorado Pro National, carding a 15/14 moto scores for a 14th place overall. He is now sitting in 19th overall position in the points standings. Yenerich went 18/26 for 22nd overall, a great improvement over his past efforts and a good sign of things to come. Anderson made the trip to the Indiana Ponca City qualifier where he dominated by posting perfect moto scores, 8 wins out of 8 motos.

Hewitt, Yenerich and Anderson are back at it this week and Coach Seiji is both pleased and motivated to continue the progression.

Coach Seiji is excited to have amateur standout Jason Anderson join the team as a client for both coachseiji.com online and personal training services. Jason has enjoyed a stellar amateur career and is currently recovering from arm surgery. Coach Seiji looks forward to aiding in his comeback and providing all the help necessary to continue his success through the rest of his amateur career and on to the professional ranks.

Jason and Coach Seiji have started his return to racing this week and both are looking forward to both training and racing:

“I have known Jason for years,” says Coach Seiji, “he was always a respectful kid and of course his speed was always there. He had awesome support from his parents and I am happy to join this already great support team. I have no doubts about Jason’s ability to ride and expect nothing less than a long and successful career. Kudos to both him and his family for getting this far and I am sure their great chemistry will continue far into the future.”

Look for updates starting this weekend on Jason’s return to racing and training!

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Rider and Coach Seiji personal training client Hunter Hewitt continued his steady improvement at the East vs. West Lites Class Shootout this past weekend in Las Vegas. Building upon his previous career best 8th place finish earned the previous week in Salt Lake City, Hunter carried this momentum into the final race of the 2010 Supercross Season.

This final round is unique for the Lites class as it is the only race of the season that pits the West Coast Lites riders with the East Coast Lites riders. The race participants must be in the top 20 in overall ranking on their regional divisions making this race field the fastest Lites field in the country.

Hunter got off to a great start in his West Coast only heat race and battled not only the fastest West Coast riders but also the sketchy track which was watered heavily. Hunter fought hard and took advantage of his start to emerge with a 6th place finish, his best heat race result of the season.

Hunter again shot off the main event starting line with a great start and battled the 20 fastest Lites class riders in the nation throughout the 15 lap main event. His efforts ended with a well deserved 12th place.

All those involved with Team #126 are proud of his efforts and achievements during this Supercross season and look forward to the Great Outdoors!

#126 Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites rider Hunter Hewitt claimed yet another career best at the Salt Lake City Monster Energy Supercross race this past weekend. In what could only be described as epic conditions, Hunter overcame altitude, rain, snow, hail, frigid temperatures and a nasty crash to chalk up another great performance.

Hunter emerged from an incredibly good track in the only qualifying timed practice (which included hail!) with the 8th fastest time in the Lites class, the best he has ever done. This led to a great gate for his heat where he got a 3rd place start and held that for a few laps. Hunter went down hard in one of the treacherous whoop sections but got up unharmed to soldier on to an 8th place finish to secure his spot in the main.

Another great start from a so-so gate got him through the first turn in 3rd yet again but a red flag caused a restart. The restart was a carbon copy and Hunter rounded the first lap in third, giving the longtime Coach Seiji personal training client a taste of running up front in the main. Rain started to fall midway through the race, causing the already difficult track to rapidly deteriorate. Hunter’s steady and determined efforts in these utterly difficult conditions earned him a career best finish of 8th.

Hunter’s steadily improving performances gives all involved great hope for not only the East/West Shootout in Las Vegas but also the Outdoor National season!

Long time Coach Seiji personal training client #126 Hunter Hewitt reached a career milestone at the 2010 Monster Energy Supercross Series round in Seattle. The Rockstar Energy Suzuki Lites class pilot had a rough start on what could be considered the most physically demanding track of the season thus far. Hunter was involved in a first turn pileup and then crashing another four times in the 6 laps of his heat race. This forced a trip to the LCQ where Hunter made the mental turnaround and earned the holeshot and the win.

Getting to the main event through the LCQ put Hunter on a far outside gate. Hunter pulled an amazing start from one of the worst positions to come around the first lap in 7th place. After 15 hard laps on a rapidly deteriorating track and one crash, Hunter emerged with a career best 10th place.

Coach Seiji is super proud of Hunter and his accomplishment, especially considering all the injuries Hunter has had to overcome both physically and mentally. Here’s to the rest of the supercross season and the outdoors!

On Saturday at the Lake Whitney Spring National a fine young man and incredibly gifted rider was seriously injured in the final motos of the event. Jesse Masterpool #956 went down hard and took the brunt of his force on his head. His heart stopped and breathing ceased for minutes. He was revived on site to the horror of all the fans and his family and was air evacuated to Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth.

Jesse survived the flight but has been in a coma since arrival and cannot fully breathe on his own. He has fluid in his lungs and broken ribs. His brain activity has not elevated to a level required for recovery.

Please keep Jesse and his family in your thoughts as he fights to stay alive and return to this world and his family.
