Andrew Short A2 SX Update

BTO/KTM #29 rider Andrew Short started the Anaheim 2 race day struggling with the last segment of the track during practice, resulting in a 20th place qualifying position. Shorty admitted “I haven’t qualified that badly since I was on a stock Honda,” referring to the privateer days after the Chapparral team shut down. Shorty put his head down though and maintained a positive outlook that powered an amazing start in his heat race, resulting in a 3rd place finish for a direct transfer to the main.

The #29 again produced an incredible start in the 450 main, nearly nabbing the holeshot. Andrew rode at the front with Ken Roczen for first lap but a mistake in a rhythm section on the following lap threw him down hard into the next berm. Andrew hit his thigh on the bars, his head on the bike and his hip on the hard SoCal dirt. Shorty attempted to get up to continue the race but was unable to stand and his bike was in no condition to continue, forcing retirement from the event.

Although upset with abondoning the race, all involved are ecstatic about how well Andrew is riding and of course his starts continue to be on point. The injuries are relatively minor, consisting of soft tissue contusions and should heal up in plenty of time to race the Oakland round of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross series.

Thanks for tuning in and see you next weekend! Coach Seiji would also like to wish Andrew’s teammate #10 Justin Brayton the best as he has his much more serious injuries tended to this week. Head up Justin!
