2012 Loretta’s Update

Another grand edition of the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship came to a close this past weekend and again great battles were staged, riding talent was on display, athleticism ran rampant and history was made. Worthy champions were crowned during the 2012 edition of Loretta Lynn’s and apetites whetted for the 2013 season.

Three Coach Seiji clients made the pilgrimmage this time to the Ranch. Supermini pilot #23 Jamison Duclos, Collegeboy/B class rider #61 Bryce Dozier and A class rookie #33 Keaton Ward. All these riders made heroic efforts to even make it through to Tennessee as injuries, mechanicals and various racing incidents were overcome at the regionals and the championship proved continued to presenet challenges to all the young racers.

Rock River Powersports rider Jamison Duclos has been putting on the muscle and height this past year and knew that this would be his last season aboard a mini bike. At nearly 150 lbs by the time Loretta’s rolled around, he looked like a man on a child’s bike but was determined to show his abilities regardless of any perceived or real disadvantages due to his size and weight. Jamison’s efforts, especially following not so great starts, netted him moto scores of 12-12-17 for 10th overall in the Supermini 2 class, continuing his steady improvement in results since joining coachseiji.com as an online client 2 years ago. Way to go Jamison, so glad for you and your family and expecting even better things on the big bike!

Kawasaki backed Texan #61 Bryce Dozier came into the season with the major goal of remaining uninjured for the season, which he succesfully accomplished. Loretta’s was icing on the cake but Dozier found himself slamming into the Tenessee dirt more than once over the race week, with all his supporters holding their collective breaths waiting for him to get up and luckily he did. Despite the crashes, Bryce made it through the week without injury but unfortunately, also without his desired results. The always friendly rider scored 26-19-16 in 250B mod for 20th overall and 20-7-23 for 14th overall in Collegeboy. Although far from what he wanted, he did walk away with the 7th in the 2nd moto of Collegeboy, riding a 250F in a field of 450’s. Coach Seiji is glad that Dozier had a solid year on the bike, stayed out of the hospital, and looks forward to continued improvements from one of the nice guys of the sport.

Fly Racing/PR2 rider #33 Keaton Ward’s presence at Loretta’s defied the odds as it was; Keaton was rushed by life flight to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy during his primary regional and amazingly qualified for 450A at Loretta’s after only a week back on the bike at his backup regional. Everything afterwards was extra credit but Keaton left the Ranch with nothing but desire to do better. Keaton did suffer a crash in his first moto and dealt with the domino effect of bad gate picks for the remainder of the week, making it hard to appreciate the fact that he was even at Loretta’s. His scores of 38-30-34 for 35th overall left much to be desired but should serve as fuel for the fire for the upcoming season. Way to perservere Keaton and finish what you started, again, pretty amazing you were even presnt at Loretta’s and I know you can do better!

Coach Seiji is glad that this year’s edition of the greatest amateur race on the planet was relatively injury free and is proud of the 2012 season for all his amatuer clients. Let the progress continue!
